Would you do... Ruffles?

A fall trend that I've seen subtly creeping up everywhere is ruffles. Reviewers who have bought the Anthropologie dress below have stated that the ruffles are extremely flattering, and that they hide certain areas that they want hidden. Personally, I love this dress, in grey and black. I'd totally wear it out with my hair pulled back to show off the sheer neckline. But the ruffles? I'm not usually a ruffle person. Plus while this dress may be flattering, I'm not sure if ruffles are flattering overall. I think it depends on the garment shape itself. What do you guys think?

I am really on the fence about this top. I think it could be super cute and flattering on some people, but it could be a hot mess on others. I wish every clothing site allowed people to review- it would make purchasing online a lot easier!

I like this Free People top, but I think it's kind of too long. Again, I think it would look best on the correct body type, but who knows? I could be missing something here when it comes to ruffles and they could be the end of all of our problems (or problem areas.)

Or you could always play it safe and go easy on the ruffles. Like with this gorgeous dress by Juicy Couture (I can't believe I just said "gorgeous" and "Juicy Couture" in the same sentence...)

So far my favorite is the Anthropologie dress, but I'm not sure I buy into the whole ruffles trend. I keep thinking back to Project Runway a few episodes back, where Nicolas repeatedly stated that "ruffles were created to hide flaws." But there's really nothing wrong with that, right?

So who's going to rock the ruffles this fall?

This or That

I feel like playing a game of sorts, similar to that "Would you rather...?" game. Instead I want to hear YOUR thoughts on which of these looks you prefer.

1. Brown leather or black leather?

2. Over-the-knee boots or strappy peeptoe wedges?

3. High-waisted trousers or sequined short-shorts?

4. Small cross-body bags or big slouchy satchels?

5. Strong shoulders or open shoulders?

6. Sheer florals or graphic colorblock?

(All garments @ Urban Outfitters)

This is what I'd pick- brown leather, strappy wedges, sequined shorties, small cross-body bags, strong shoulders and sheer florals. But it's a tough call, I love all of these looks!

P.S. Has anyone else noticed that all of Urban's prices end in 8?

Fever Ray

One half of the iconic Swedish electro-pop duo The Knife, Karin Dreijer Andersson's solo effort Fever Ray is nothing short of spectacular. An acquired taste, sure, but I am urging you to check her out. "Her vocal style is notable for both shrill and deep, distorted tones combined with her distinctive accent and the use of pitch-shifting" (thanks wikipedia!)

Oh and these photos look like they could be in an avant garde fashion spread. Totally eerie and haunting and beautiful.

"Roll, roll, roll in ze hay!"

I will give $100 to anybody who can tell me what movie is quoted in this title. HINT: Halloween comedy anyone?

Okay, not really, but I will laugh and love you forever.

But seriously, what else can you say about Chanel's Spring 2010 RTW show?

Okay, so the clothes weren't really my favorite at all, ESPECIALLY when it got to the red, white & blue sequence (can anybody say FUG?) but you've got to love the creativity in the presentation. The sheer black and white gown that was model by the lovely Sasha was by far my favorite, and I love the blazers on Frija and Baptiste.

Not sure what Karl's fascination is with Lily Allen lately, but oh what the hell- I'll buy it. I would have loved to see her perform her "saltily worded country number" as told by style.com.
