I really don't mind Angelina Jolie.  I think she is talented and I enjoy when she chooses roles that aren't her usual action-flick hot-chick characters, because she sure seems to do enough of those.  I haven't seen Changeling yet, but I really wanted to, mainly because I seriously got CHILLS every time I heard her scream "I want my son back!" in the trailers.  Chills.
The other reason is because of the cloche hats she wears throughout the film!




I really don't know why I am in love with these hats, but I am.  They are just so iconic of the 1920s.




I also found a modern version of these beloved hats by Still Life NYC.  They claim they have yet to find a woman who does not look fabulous in this style.  I don't typically wear hats, but if I had $300 to splurge I would definitely get one.  My favorite is the brown with the cute feathers!

Depression-Era Beauties

Style.com made an awesome tribute to the glamorous starlets of the 1930s.  Last semester I took History of Costume, and when we finally began covering the 1920s and 30s I was so happy.  These women were gorgeous and, for the first time, portrayed women as the strong and sensual beings that we are.

Josephine Baker, or La Baker, posing in what would have been a very scandalous photoshoot for Vanity Fair in 1929.  Sadly, this would be a normal photoshoot for many magazines these days.  Everything has become just a little bit less classy.

The fantastic Jean Harlow, 1933.  Remember when Gwen played her for a *very brief* role in The Aviator?  I thought she was perfect when I first saw it.

There is something so sexy about this picture, I believe it is the pout and eyes that Tyra would call "fieeeerrrrcccee."  Barbara Stanwyck in 1937's Breakfast for Two.


Ugh, I cannot believe how gorgeous Ginger Roberts is.  Gah!  You see so many celebrities trying their damnedest to copy these chic girls from the 1930s, and they end up falling very very short.  Look at her, she is effortless.
