Can you tell I'm ready for summer?

It's a little too late to be making Christmas wish lists... or is it? Regardless, I love all of these items. And they are all reasonably priced. The coral cuff looks so edgy but classy, I love the sandals but can't really decide if I like them better in black or ivory, and who doesn't need a sheer pocket tee? OR a cute lip-gloss locket pin?!

I think the only thing I'd ACTUALLY put on my Christmas wish list would be Robin Finck. This photo is my background on my macbook. Can I get a "yum," please? Kthnxxx

Erika from Fashion Chalet

I recently had to write a research paper for my Fashion & Pop Culture class- on anything in recent pop culture that we think impacts fashion in some way... So I decided to do mine on fashion bloggers and how they have influenced the fashion industry and its marketing techniques.

I found tons of information and articles, but what I really wanted was a personal perspective. So I turned to Erika of Fashion Chalet and she graciously granted me a quick e-mail interview to use, which was very helpful. I just love Fashion Chalet, it really was the blog that inspired me to start my own.

Reasons why I ♥ her:
1. She has ridiculously long hair.
2. She has impeccable style.
3. She owns the Sam Edelman booties.
4. Her food tweets make me super hungry.
5. Despite being featured in magazines like Lucky, Glamour, and on websites like Urban Outfitters and Modcloth, she continues to be flattered, humble, and incredibly sweet.

The Interview:

Me- Do you think fashion bloggers have more of an impact on the fashion and retail industry?

Erika- Yes I do. Only because I personally follow a lot of Inspirational Photo blogs.. (Knightcat, Little Plastic Horses, Stardust and Sequins & Fashion-Canvas) whose personal style easily flow out through their posts and I am seeing more and more stores sprouting out these same basic ideas of a new fashion "language" into their everyday clothing and accessory items. A very cool notion indeed!

Me- You've been featured in magazines like Lucky, Glamour, etc. How did/do you feel when you find out a huge magazine has mentioned you as a style influence?

Erika- Incredibly flattered. To think that only a handful of years ago I was longingly looking through the pages of these magazines, getting inspired and falling in love-- not knowing one day they might feature something about me within their pages or blog.

Me- You recently teamed up with Coach for a giveaway on your blog- who contacted who or how did the giveaway come about?

Erika- I was contacted by them. Karen Robinovitz (who is behind the ingenious glosses Skinny Hips, Big Lips for Purple Lab) is working with them and suggested me to the Coach team :)

Me- Have you been invited to any promotional events for a retailer/fashion show/etc?

Erika- I was recently invited to New York City for a VIP shopping experience by TJ Maxx/Marshalls. I got to tour the city for the first time, stay in a hotel mid-Manhattan and eat in 2 days as much as I normally would in a week. I was treated very nicely, and I hope I treated the City back just as nicely. New York, I love you! ;)

Me- Since I really don't have anymore specific questions, is there anything else you'd like to add about fashion bloggers, blogging, the fashion industry, etc?

Erika- I find that blogging is not only this great pool of inspiration to pull from, but also a very positive "secret world" to retreat to and learn and grow from as well.

So thanks Erika (again) for the interview! And if you have not already visited Fashion Chalet- WHERE have you been?! and get your asses over there right now!

Rodarte, Rodarte

Okay, I've never been one of those people who continually lust over Rodarte, but I can guarantee I will be blowing a sweet amount of money on the girls' collection for Target. The cardigans? I dieeeeeeee

To preview the complete collection, available December 20, go to nylonmag.com (and be sure to check out their flickr page for full sized photos)

Chanel Pre-Fall 2010

Pre-Fall is my favorite season (or, rather, non-season) and I think it's because most designers come up with the most gorgeous layers, luxurious fabrics, richest colors. But doesn't it feel a bit early, Karl, to release your Pre-Fall collection for 2010 already? Seeing as though we aren't even into 2010 yet?

No matter, the collection is gorgeous. Titled "Paris Shanghai, A Fantasy," it tells Karl's own imagined story of Coco Chanel's trip to China. The signature tweeds are here, but with a bit of a twist. I love the obvious Asian influences, and the colors. I was so ready for spring and summer, but now I want fall all over again.

Here are some of my favorites:

What I wore: Thanksgiving

satin dress- H&M; cardigan- American Eagle

My outfit for Thanksgiving. Please excuse the shoddy photos, and the treadmill in the background hah! I found it more appropriate to wear a dress instead of pants because since Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, I knew I'd be engorging myself with massive amounts of food.

Also, this dress DEFINITELY does not fit me anymore (in the boob area, damn you BC pills) and I've only worn it a few times. So if anyone is interested in it, I will probably be putting it up for sale in the shop, it has a cute sash as well.

I'm hoping to be blogging a bit more now that classes are winding down, instead of only making 5 posts a month =/

I'm going to get in trouble.

If Jessica Simpson did anything right, it was launch her shoe collection.

So, when I accepted the job at Macy's womens' shoe department a few weeks ago, I thought I'd be just fine as to not blow my entire paycheck on shoes. You see, handbags are my weakness, not shoes like a lot of women. HOWEVER, we just got a shipment of these lovelies a few days ago, and I've been trying to justify why I would need them in my life- they are super comfortable; they could be worn in the warmer months with skirts and cut-offs or in the chillier months with textured tights; they are casual yet could be dressed up easily, etc. etc.

See? How could I not pass these babies up?? It would be ridiculous NOT to =P

Serious Cravings

Serious cravings

Clockwise from top left:
1. Silence & Noise Pamela coat, $168.00
I have never felt the urge to wear a faux fur coat. Until this year. And now I want one with a vengeance. I have no idea what has come over me, maybe all of the MK&A photos circulating the blogosphere, but I definitely feel the need to obtain a faux fur coat. I love this one, especially, for the vintagey feel.

2. Preen Line Fountain cotton jersey dress, $350.00
I already blogged about this one in the previous post. Originally I went nuts over the grey, but lately I've been more interested in navy blue as opposed to my normal black and grey. So the navy blue seems like an obvious choice, and much more elegant than the grey.

3. Chanel nail laquer in Jade, & China Glaze polish in Black Diamond
Ever since the Fall 2009 show I've been obsessing over this color! And the Black Diamond color is really a charcoal grey shimmer, which is a nice alternative to my traditional black creme polish that usually adorns my fingernails. (I have them painted this color right now.)

4. American Eagle studded sweater, $69.50
I tried this on in the store and it is so soft! Plus, how can you go wrong with brass studs on a vanilla-hued sweater?! I'm seriously missing my AE discount right about now.

5. Sam Edelman boots, $350.00
Seriously, who ISN'T craving these right now?

6. Starbucks Gingerbread (soy) latte
These are my JAM! Every November I anxiously await for these to arrive- they are my sustenance all winter long.

7. Reiss Acqua embellished tee, $155.00
I'm all about sequins right now, I love how versatile they are. You could wear this tee with jeans and chucks or boots, or you could dress it up with a boyfriend blazer and trousers. Plus the color is gorgeous, I'm definitely feeling the pale pinks this season.

Preen Line @ Net-A-Porter.com

Preen is a line that I have more recently begun obsessing over- it all started with their coats and drapey details. The duo behind the style-savvy line has released an exclusive collection for Net-A-Porter, appropriately titled Preen Line; a more affordable collection for the online retailer. First launched in February 2008 at Copenhagen Fashion Week, we can expect the same impeccable taste and quality in Preen Line as we do from its big sister. Only at much more budget-friendly prices.

The capsule collection features elegantly draped and structured pieces, exposed zippers and architectural details; mostly in grey, black, navy and soft pink. This so has my name written all over it.

But hurry- this line is already selling out fast!

Oil PVC pants; $760.00

(Also comes in a gorgeous navy blue)

A Gossip Girl Halloween

Me and sister, as Serena and Blair. As it turned out, it didn't even really look like I dressed up. In fact, we passed a few guys who said to us "You girls look good. Did you dress up as yourselves?" to which my sister promptly replied "If I dressed like this everyday, something would be wrong!"

I did pencil a little mole on my cheek though, in complete Serena/Blake fashion.

And in case you were wondering:
blazer- Urban Outfitters; tee & jeans- Old Navy; necklace- Target; boots- Aldo

Happy Halloween!

Quick post- hope you guys are having a fabulous Halloween! My sister and I are going and Serena (me) and Blair (Bri) from GOSSIP GIRL. Photos will be posted...

Would you do... Ruffles?

A fall trend that I've seen subtly creeping up everywhere is ruffles. Reviewers who have bought the Anthropologie dress below have stated that the ruffles are extremely flattering, and that they hide certain areas that they want hidden. Personally, I love this dress, in grey and black. I'd totally wear it out with my hair pulled back to show off the sheer neckline. But the ruffles? I'm not usually a ruffle person. Plus while this dress may be flattering, I'm not sure if ruffles are flattering overall. I think it depends on the garment shape itself. What do you guys think?

I am really on the fence about this top. I think it could be super cute and flattering on some people, but it could be a hot mess on others. I wish every clothing site allowed people to review- it would make purchasing online a lot easier!

I like this Free People top, but I think it's kind of too long. Again, I think it would look best on the correct body type, but who knows? I could be missing something here when it comes to ruffles and they could be the end of all of our problems (or problem areas.)

Or you could always play it safe and go easy on the ruffles. Like with this gorgeous dress by Juicy Couture (I can't believe I just said "gorgeous" and "Juicy Couture" in the same sentence...)

So far my favorite is the Anthropologie dress, but I'm not sure I buy into the whole ruffles trend. I keep thinking back to Project Runway a few episodes back, where Nicolas repeatedly stated that "ruffles were created to hide flaws." But there's really nothing wrong with that, right?

So who's going to rock the ruffles this fall?
