Absolute Perfection

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I am in love with this photo of Mary-Kate. She looks so fresh and polished, but carefree. The dress is beyond amazing, as is the jewelry, but what I really love is her smile. It's photos like these that make me wish the girls smiled more. So pretty.

Erika from Fashion Chalet

I recently had to write a research paper for my Fashion & Pop Culture class- on anything in recent pop culture that we think impacts fashion in some way... So I decided to do mine on fashion bloggers and how they have influenced the fashion industry and its marketing techniques.

I found tons of information and articles, but what I really wanted was a personal perspective. So I turned to Erika of Fashion Chalet and she graciously granted me a quick e-mail interview to use, which was very helpful. I just love Fashion Chalet, it really was the blog that inspired me to start my own.

Reasons why I ♥ her:
1. She has ridiculously long hair.
2. She has impeccable style.
3. She owns the Sam Edelman booties.
4. Her food tweets make me super hungry.
5. Despite being featured in magazines like Lucky, Glamour, and on websites like Urban Outfitters and Modcloth, she continues to be flattered, humble, and incredibly sweet.

The Interview:

Me- Do you think fashion bloggers have more of an impact on the fashion and retail industry?

Erika- Yes I do. Only because I personally follow a lot of Inspirational Photo blogs.. (Knightcat, Little Plastic Horses, Stardust and Sequins & Fashion-Canvas) whose personal style easily flow out through their posts and I am seeing more and more stores sprouting out these same basic ideas of a new fashion "language" into their everyday clothing and accessory items. A very cool notion indeed!

Me- You've been featured in magazines like Lucky, Glamour, etc. How did/do you feel when you find out a huge magazine has mentioned you as a style influence?

Erika- Incredibly flattered. To think that only a handful of years ago I was longingly looking through the pages of these magazines, getting inspired and falling in love-- not knowing one day they might feature something about me within their pages or blog.

Me- You recently teamed up with Coach for a giveaway on your blog- who contacted who or how did the giveaway come about?

Erika- I was contacted by them. Karen Robinovitz (who is behind the ingenious glosses Skinny Hips, Big Lips for Purple Lab) is working with them and suggested me to the Coach team :)

Me- Have you been invited to any promotional events for a retailer/fashion show/etc?

Erika- I was recently invited to New York City for a VIP shopping experience by TJ Maxx/Marshalls. I got to tour the city for the first time, stay in a hotel mid-Manhattan and eat in 2 days as much as I normally would in a week. I was treated very nicely, and I hope I treated the City back just as nicely. New York, I love you! ;)

Me- Since I really don't have anymore specific questions, is there anything else you'd like to add about fashion bloggers, blogging, the fashion industry, etc?

Erika- I find that blogging is not only this great pool of inspiration to pull from, but also a very positive "secret world" to retreat to and learn and grow from as well.

So thanks Erika (again) for the interview! And if you have not already visited Fashion Chalet- WHERE have you been?! and get your asses over there right now!

Another Oscar's Fashion Post

Seriously, there is going to be a shit-ton of these posts today, so I figured I would just keep mine short and sweet and just post the ensembles that I *loved.*

Favorite couple was of course Brad (in Tom Ford) and Angelina (in Elie Saab.)  I love her dress, it's so simple and elegant, but my favorite is the Lorraine Schwartz jewels- I absolutely love the green with the all black!  Perfection.

My favorite best-dressed man is (always) Mickey Rourke, in Jean Paul Gaultier.  I really thought he was a shoe-in for Best Actor *cries* but I'm happy that Sean Penn won.  Loved his acceptance speech, too.

I really don't even remember seeing Evan Rachel Wood  last night, so I'm glad I found her on style.com.  I'm glad she's back to her more elegant-glam rather than her goth-glam when she was with Manson *shudders.*  She looks better blonde.  Yet another stellar Elie Saab number!

Marisa Tomei came awfully close to being lumped into the shiny, silvery-white bridal category, but the fun pleating in this Versace gown was her saving grace.  She really did look stunning.

Josh Brolin and Diane Lane, both in Dolce & Gabbana, looked amazing as well!

LOVED Natalie Portman in this Rodarte dress!  No one else could pull off this color, plus it was a nice change from all the *bridal-wear* (Penelope Cruz?!) we saw everywhere last night.  Okay, so I pretty much love Natalie in anything, but she looked gorgeous =)

I love Tilda Swinton more and more each time I see her, and I loved her in Lanvin last night.  It was a perfect match!

Last but not least Sean Penn (in Armani) and Robin Wright Penn (in Monique Lhuillier) almost beat Brad and Angie for my best-dressed couple.  It really just came down to the jewelry, I'm afraid.  I actually like Sean's tux better than Brad's so maybe I'll just trade...

So I'm pretty bummed enraged that Frost/Nixon won NOTHING.  That really was the best film I've seen in a long time, and it really got robbed last night.  I know it was pretty hard to choose a Best Actor, between Sean Penn, Mickey Rourke and Frank Langella, but Langella's Richard Nixon was so spot on.  And it SHOULD have won for best picture, at the very least Ron Howard should have walked away with Best Directing.  Slumdog Millionaire was a great movie, but not THAT great.

I think what annoys me most about the Academy Awards is that there is always that one film that sweeps everything when there are so many other much more deserving films.  Like last year with No Country for Old Men- again, a great film, but There Will Be Blood was much more AMAZING!  At least Daniel Day Lewis got best actor.  Just because a picture is getting votes in other categories, doesn't mean you have to vote for it in everything!

And my rant ends here =)

Louis Vuitton/Stephen Sprouse

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Ahh, the greatness that is Marc Jacobs.  The new collection for Louis Vuitton is inspired by none other than the late and great Stephen Sprouse; skate/punk/fashion extrordanaire.    In fact, the entire SoHo location is currently being revamped in the Sprouse style, complete with a spray-painted facade, neon lighting, vinyl, and graffiti galore.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

For the launch of the collection and the new store-front, the brand will release 2 limited edition pieces; a Stephen Sprouse graffiti skateboard with its own LV monogram *skateboard trunk* and a "Roses" tee, both of which will only be available at the SoHo Greene Street location.  The skateboard and said trunk will retail at a whopping $8,250.00 each, and the shirt will sell for $250.00.

Sorry, but somehow I don't see Geoff Rowley or Tony Trujillo shelling out 8 grand for a skateboard...

note:  I borrowed the LV Storefront photo from Coco.  You can read more at wwd.com

"Such a long way... a long way."

Ew early morning post.  I just can't seem to sleep in these days.

Anyway, sorry for the lack of posting, I've been emotionally and physically under the weather these past few days =)

But enough about me... Since I work in a call center for an insurance company and it is so boring, I have a lot of free time to browse the internets, namely people.com because I'm a sick sap that way and enjoy celebrity gossip!  Actually, it's more just to see what these famous people are wearing these days.  Here are some favorites from this week:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Jennifer Connelly at the Japanese premier of "The Day the World Stood Still."  It looks like a horrid movie, (well, anything starring Keanu Reeves I assume is going to be horrid) but Jennifer looks amazing here.  She's so tall anyway, but those high-waisted trousers make her legs look a million miles long!  This is exactly the kind of ensemble I'd rock =)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Nicole Richie at the opening of the new D&G store in LA last Monday.  Wearing, what else?  D&G obviously.  I wonder if anyone showed up wearing something other than the Italian powerhouse...  She looks absolutely adorable!  And speaking of adorable...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Zooey!!!!!  She is so amazing.  I'm in love with this girl anyway, but she looks so darling in this silver Erin Featherstone number at the "Yes Man" premier in LA.  I just want to hug her and tell her how amazing she is and how I love it when she sings.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Also among the array of Young Hollywood that attended the D&G opening was Rachel Bilson.  As I said in a previous post i LOVELOVELOVE this jacket!!  I love this whole outfit really, but I'm going to have to do some major thirfting/vintaging to find a jacket or cardigan equally as amazing.  But really, the whole outfit is fantastic, and one of my favorites this week.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I love it when celebs wear the same shit that I do.  For instance, Rihanna in an oversized sweater, dark skinny jeans and Chucks and huge sunglasses?!  Come on that is my uniform for most of the year while I'm at school.  I'm usually not a big fan of Louis Vuitton but I do enjoy this Monogram Miroir bag.

So that's it.  I have more entries planned that I have been meaning to post this week, but alas, I have just been way to tired to function after work.  Word to the wise: never ever ever work in a customer service/call center setting.  8-hour days of listening to the endless bitching and whining of old fucks over the age of 65 can be exhausting.  Especially when they call you a "fucking liar" when you tell them they did not get a certain subsidy this year when you sent them the appliction, called them twice to remind them it was due and they still didn't do one simple task of filling out a form and mailing it in.  And then they wonder where their reimbursement money is.

It's all okay.  I applied at Nordstrom so hopefully I will hear back soon *crosses fingers*

This is why I want to live in LA

Well, I'd prefer London, but c'mon.  There aren't any D&G stores in Cleveland!

So Monday night was the big opening of D&G's 8th U.S. store, located (where else?) on Robertson Blvd in LA, and obviously all of Hollywood's fabulous young things attended.  I love the menu: mini burgers and pizzas, pigs in a blanket, and french fries =P

The only thing I find questionable about the shindig (besides, ahem, Leelee Sobieski) was that Danny Masterson supplied the music as DJ Mom Jeans??  Maybe not so much the fact that he was the dj, but really.  Were there no other names?

Aside from the aforementioned Ms. Sobieski, everyone looked quite smashing in their LBD's:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Ginnifer and Jennifer look so cute here.  Everyone was wearing D&G of course.  I love Jennifer Morrison's dress.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Ginnifer Goodwin and Zoe Saldana.  What is on Zoe's dress??

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Gah!  Hate her.  Not really, I love her and she looks absolutely adorable!  I know she is still a skinny little thing, but I don't think she looks disgustingly thin anymore.  Amazing what babies will do for you.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Not quite hot mess, but dangerously close Ms. Rumer Willis.  *tsk tsk*  The dress is cute, but something's definitely going on with the neckline... it just looks a bit off.  Maybe her boobs just look too saggy.  It would be like me trying to wear it.  Dresses that low-cut look better on surfboards =)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

And SPEAKING of hot mess...  Ugh, I really can't stand her.  I hate her face and she can't act.  All of her characters end up with the same, non-existant personality.  I would probably love this dress on someone else, though.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I was surprised Rachel Bilson didn't dress up a little more.  She still looks gorgeous as usual, I love the jacket.  It looks especially cute against the yellow clutch.  Someday, somewhere, I will find some sequined little number, like this one or this one.

Shutupshutupshutup!!  I don't want to hear it!  *holds hands over her ears*  Lauren Conrad is my guilty pleasure.  I'm obsessed with her hair and her clothes, and even her insanely over-priced "clothing line."   Dontjudgeme.  She looks fantastic here with Jessica Stroup, whoever that is.

"I think we should do Madonna"

I love WWD morning reports; they are a great way to wake up in the morning!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

So anyway, a few weeks ago, the fabulous Marc Jacobs blurted out those six wonderful words at a meeting to brainstorm an upcoming ad campaign for Louis Vuitton.  Five minutes and a text message later, Madge became the new face of the iconic French line.

Another win for the genius that is Marc Jacobs.

What should Michelle Obama wear?

For the inaugural ceremony?  Well, a whole slew of designers have submitted their ideas for her day and evening looks to Women's Wear Daily, although her favorites are remaining hush-hush until the big day.  With good reason; I don't think we've seen a more fashionable first-lady since Jackie-O herself.

Some of my personal favorites:

I think this one by Marc Jacobs would be gorgeous!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Fucking Betsey Johnson haha.  She cracks me up... Not sure if dressing up the future first-lady as a spunky prom queen would translate quite well, and I really cannot see her cartwheeling out on stage either =P

From my favorite tanorexic, Michael Kors.  I actually like this one a lot.  There's nothing better than a royal blue gown, especially one that sparkles!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Day and evening looks by Diane Von Furstenberg.  The white gown is one of my favorites, it is just stunning and a perfect look for Michelle Obama.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

A day look by Zac Posen.  He surprised me, I usually love his looks but his ideas for her evening look were a bit... dated, to say the least.  This look is classy though.

Evening and day looks by Caroline Herrera.  I love the color and silhouette of the green gown and the day look is very appropriate.

Oscar de la Renta's is my favorite!  I love how he incorporated the girls' designs, each wearing red, white or blue.  Too bad this isn't one she picked, even my boyfriend like this one!

Photos from Gucci UNICEF Benefit

Random photos from the Gucci UNICEF benefit, featuring the label's new Tattoo Heart Collection of handbags (Gucci's fourth collection benefiting UNICEF).  25% of proceeds from the all-white, tattoo-printed bags go to the charity, benefiting children and orphans affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Madonna and creative director Frida Giannini, looking gorgeous.

Oh Blake... why...?  I've never understood why she is such a *style icon* these days.  She tries but never looks effortlessly pulled-together, which is surprising especially when she has such a killer wardrobe on Gossip Girl.  Either she has really bad taste or needs to fire her stylist ASAP.  I like plunging necklines, but only when they are done correctly... o_O

More from Gossip Girl, Penn Badgley!!

And more Gossip Girl, Kelly Rutherford looking like a hot mama!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!! I HAD to put this on here, if anyone can rock the hobo-chic, it's Robert.  I applaud this look, lol.  I mean, this is so typical of him, but really, there had to have been a better picture to post than this...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Natasha Poly, what a stunning girl.  This was my favorite dress of the night.  I saw this look a lot at this event; the short printed dress over the black tights and shoes; and I must say it is very enjoyable. *makes mental note to try this over winter break*

And again with Becki Newton.

LYKE OMGZ TWILIGHT OPENS IN 3 DAYZ!!!!!1

Okay, so... Kristen Stewart featured in teenVOGUE.  I must say I'm pretty excited about Twilight opening this weekend, but I am rather hesitant about Kristen's Bella.  And no, I'm not  some obsessed fangirl shooting her down because she is the romantic interest of Robert Pattinson.  From what I remember from Panic Room she was decent, and I enjoyed her in In the Land of Women, but COME ON!  Judging from the trailer, her performance is rather cringe-worthy.  As cringe-worthy as Daniel Radcliffe in The Prisoner of Azkaban:

And we all know that *shudders* horrific scene.  Dear lord, I have to fast-forward through THAT every time I watch the film.

Anyway, back to the article and photoshoot.  The clothes were cute, especially a PRPS black leather motorcycle jacket paired with a white Prada tee shirt with costume-jewelry-like embellishment, and this Karen Walker acid-washed dress.  However, I am kind of bummed that this look wasn't included in the final set of photos:

I WANT that cardigan!  And teenvogue.com doesn't even say what brand!  I have half a mind to just email them and demand they tell me who makes this wonderful garment, even if I know I can't afford it!  Still, it would look great with dark straight leg jeans, flats, and my Chanel bag...

So, I will be seeing Twilight when it opens on Friday, and I will just reserve my judgement of Kristen until after the film is finished.  After all, if teenVOGUE calls her the "perfect Bella" then perhaps whoever edited the trailer just picked the worst scenes of all time the movie.
