Amateur Modeling at its Finest

And no, for once I'm not talking about America's Next Top "Model." I'm talking about this lovely thing over at Moxsie.com- I was cracking up and the girl's "posing," or lack thereof. I mean seriously, who okayed these photos?!

I'll break this failure down for you guys:

1. The Generic Catalog Pose: There is, quite literally, no life in this arm. There are no angles, no interest, no posing really. Last time I checked, the point of catalog modeling is not to make garments look shapeless. This does nothing to make me want to buy this dress.

2. The Over-Exaggerated Shoulder Hunch: Clearly, someone has been doing her homework and reading Vogue and W, and has equated that a hunched shoulder equals high fashion. But, when you only lift one shoulder with the rest of your body erect, you only look rather lopsided.

3. And finally, whatever the hell this is. I mean COME ON what is going on with that right arm?! Who directed this photoshoot? Who told this girl that this was a good idea?!!

However, this dress is hella cute [I will link it here]. I just get too distracted by the crazy arms and deer-in-headlights, trying-too-hard expression. She's a pretty girl, but LORD please give her some guidance in the modeling department.

I've come to the conclusion that the girl's right arm is just dead.

A Gossip Girl Halloween

Me and sister, as Serena and Blair. As it turned out, it didn't even really look like I dressed up. In fact, we passed a few guys who said to us "You girls look good. Did you dress up as yourselves?" to which my sister promptly replied "If I dressed like this everyday, something would be wrong!"

I did pencil a little mole on my cheek though, in complete Serena/Blake fashion.

And in case you were wondering:
blazer- Urban Outfitters; tee & jeans- Old Navy; necklace- Target; boots- Aldo

Deserted Island

This photo has nothing to do with this post, but when I googled "chapstick" it came up.  So I thought I would post it 'cause who doesn't love ferrets?

The lovely Mrs. M at Slacker Chic has tagged me, thus banishing me to a desert island (damn her! Lolz)  The challenge?

"Your ship has sunk.  You have, of course, been stranded on a deserted island.  You have salvaged a copy of the King James Version of the Bible and a copy of the complete works of Shakespeare.  Nothing else.  The very next day you find one of those Arabian Lamps in the sand.  Of course, you rub it and, of course, a rather grumpy Genie appears.  'Let's get this straight- there is a recession going on.  There are restrictions on the three wishes now.  I don't do water or air transport now so no boats, planes or magic carpets.  As for electronics, forget it.  There isn't the infrastructure on this island.  I can let you have one book and I mean one VOLUME, one essential item and one luxury item.  Now hurry up and make your choices, I have to get to those five other islands you are going to nominate!"

Book? The World According to Garp by John Irving, hands down.  I'd be quite content with that and Shakespeare PLUS there is no way I could choose just one Harry Potter book (unless I got lucky and they had all of them in one ginormous volume.)

Essential item?  Chapstick, definitely.  With plenty of SPF- I can handle getting sunburnt because I eventually tan, but I hate when my lips are chapped and burnt!

Luxury item?  A lifetime supply of toothpaste and toothbrushes.  I don't think I could deal with losing my teeth on a deserted island plus I can't go a day without brushing my teeth at least twice.

Aaannnddd I'm going to nominate:

Indie.Tea at Darjeeling Dreams
Frankie at Swell Vintage

Three Words

So I'm pretty excited for tonight because, instead of going to see Friday the 13th like I'm sure a lot of people, sister and I are going to see TWILIGHT.  It's going to be fun because it's what Kent State's rec center refers to as a "Dive-In Movie"- the film is going to be projected above the pool and we will all be floating around in tubes and rafts as opposed to uncomfortable cinema seats.  Sounds exciting... right?  Or lame?

Moving on.  Those Hefty trash bag commercials are hilarious and always get stuck in my head (you know the ones; the "HEFTY HEFTY HEFTY!  wimpy wimpy wimpy!)  Anyway, it inspired this post.  Just when you thought I was a complete crackhead.

Completely Obsessed

Really, I am.  It's sad.  I'm completely obsessed with Polyvore; in fact, all day during the House marathon this is what I did.

Don't click the link: you may end up just as crazy!

I decided to do one titled "My Uniform" 'cause this is generally what I wear on a daily basis: smart-ass tees (or band tees), skinny jeans and Chuck Taylors or boots with a Starbucks in hand.

As soon as I post this I'm probably off to make a few more.  Cheers!

p.s.  Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday =)

Remember when they were, like, the BEST BAND EVARR?!!!1

I would say Happy Holidays, but I think Tony Kanal's shirt says it best.  I'm taking a break from posting, so enjoy the rest of the year!

Ray Bans, OMG

This post is dedicated to Ashley because 1) I know how much she loves RPattz, and 2) I know how much she loves RPattz in Ray Bans.

When it comes to this classic eyewear, though, I prefer Bob Dylan.

Aaannnd since I now enjoy making these collage thingers, I made one dedicated to the ever-famous eye apparel, that never seem go out of style.  In fact, it seems like the trend is stronger than ever (thanks, in large part, to the Olsens).

(Again).

I like the bright reds and whites seen on Mary-Kate and Sienna Miller, as well as the classic black ones, but I think if I were to ever indulge in a pair of these I'd go for the tortoise print!

He's WHAT?!

Silly post time... again.

(Bigger is better)

Found this on the forum.  I like when NIN fans have a sense of humor, because most take themselves way too seriously.  I find this especially funny because of the recent buzz around MK.  Seriously, she gets shit for being a skinny waif, but accused of being pregnant the moment she gains a few pounds... at this point I would probably be like

WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!?!?!??!!!??!!

Anyway, back to more silliness:

Headline Reads: Today, hundreds were killed at a Nine Inch Nails concert as Reznor breaks out his secret weapon.

Those not killed in the onslaught exclaimed, "It was AWESOME! You should've been there, man..."

Black Tie, White Noise

So... I know I'll be sad when skinny jeans and huge sunglasses go out of style, but I will REALLY be bummed when black nail polish does.  No, I'm not going to stop wearing it, but it has just been nice to not hear "You listen to Nine Inch Nails. You wear black nail polish. You must be gothic."

Yes, because the rest of me is sooooo "gothic."

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Face it.  You may be sick of it but black nail polish hasn't left us yet!!  Of which I am happy about simply for the above reason.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

BUT I hate *cheap* black polish.  You know, the kind that chips after 1 day of wear and it looks like shit.  I painted mine black for Thanksgiving (festive, I know) last Thursday, and it still looks decent today, not very chipped at all.  Thanks O.P.I!

One of these days I will buy the real good stuff: Chanel.  But I just can't bring myself to spend $25 on nail polish when the $11 O.P.I. does just fine.

Oh and apparently black lip gloss is in too, now, thanks to YSL's runway show.  The non-runway stuff is supposed to be really sheer and easy to wear.  I actually can't wait to try it! (In public, that is.)

The many faces and phrases of Robert Pattinson

Silly post time!  Okay so I've sorta been a fan of RPattz since Harry Potter, and I really cannot WAIT to see Little Ashes, but lately I have been on the Robert-Pattinson-Is-A-Total-Cutie bandwagon.  And no, not because of Twilight, not because of Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, or Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory, or Robert Pattinson as Salvador Dalí, but Robert Pattinson as

Robert Pattinson.

So, on days that I'm bored (usually every day at work) I like to go on IMDB and look up random movies and celebs, but yesterday I was on his message board and there was an entire thread dedicated to quotes of his.  I sent a few of these to my friend but I felt the need to share them with the rest of the world:

MTV: "By now, we've all seen these clips of you fighting Cam Gigandet, who is such a bad-ass in 'Never Back Down.'  Did he try all those mixed martial-arts moves against you?"

Robert: "I kicked his ass, because I don't hold back.  I fight like a little bitch.  I'd bite and pull his pants down and stuff."

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"The more Bella says 'I'm not scared of you, you're not a monster' the more I [as Edward] believe it.  I kind of forget that I am a vampire and what my actual instincts are.  I try and kiss her and it ends up being a nightmare.  She has a sort of hormonal rush and I have the 'I want to kill you' rush.  It ends up being quite sexy, in a weird way.  You're at a point where you want to do everything and kill them, at the same time.  It's the peak."

Interviewer: "How do you approach the kissing scenes?"

Robert: "I approach them from the front."

I: "And is there any tongue?"

R:  "Oh I always try to slip in some tongue."

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"I don't even have a hair chest! It's like early pubes."

Larry: "What would you do if you were president?"

Robert: "Nothing!  I'd walk around saying 'Kiss my ass!'"

"The dancing at the Yule Ball.  They said 'Just dance how you would normally' like there was this rock band or something.  They'd film us really close up.  I had to dance with Cho Chang played by Katie and had no idea what to do.  I was like, am I supposed to be grinding? [laughs] She was really good, but I think she does dancing lessons.  I felt like such an idiot.  I kept on saying 'Can I just sit on the side? PLEASE!'"

"I have 12 year old virgins lick it..." <--- haha, don't worry he was talking about his hair!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Robert (to Rachelle LeFevre): "I thought you were saying sea lion... wow, I really didn't see that, that's really subtle..."  <-- So he and Rachelle, the girl who plays Victoria in Twilight, were being interviewed together, and she was talking about how she tried to incorporate FELINE qualities into her character, and he thought she was saying "SEA-LION!"  Oh Rob... you crackhead.

"Little girls saying, 'I want to have your babies!'  And it's like, 'You don't. Seriously. I don't even want to have my babies.'"

"I'm really afraid of getting hit by cars, like terrified of crossing streets.  I'm also very accident prone... I think people aim for me."  <-- He also said somewhere that he is afraid of someone coming up behind him and stabbing him with a needle infected with the AIDS virus...? How random.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"I've got a terrible memory- I end up repeating myself quite a lot.  The only thing I remember is that I'm going to repeat myself!"

"Eww... And then you call it a garden burger? Like, oh, I just found this in the garden..."

Pattinson: "That was a really good answer.  How come I can never answer questions like that?"

LeFevre: "My dad's an English teacher and my mother's a psychologist."

Pattinson: "...My dad makes German techno music."

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"I read the Variety review and their only comment was 'rangy.'  I thought it meant from the range, like a cowboy.  But it just means tall and lanky."

"When you read the book... it's like 'Edward Cullen was so beautiful I creamed myself.'  He's the most ridiculous person who's so amazing at everything.  I think a lot of actors tried to play that aspect.  I just couldn't do that.  And the more I read the script the more I hated this guy, so that's how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself.  Plus, he's a 108 year-old virgin, so he's obviously got some issues there."

"IT'S NOT EVEN FUCKING RAINING!"  <-- SO, apparently on the set of Twilight, an assistant ran up to him with an umbrella when it was not really raining, and according to an extra or something on set said that Rob yelled this loud enough for everyone to hear.  Outburst of the week, I guess.
