PS1 vs. Mossimo

Okay, so it's not secret that Proenza Schouler is my favorite designer label. Ever. And that I've been lusting over the PS1 series of handbags. If I ever get the chance to meet Lazaro and/or Jack I will seriously lick them. I am completely in love with this punchy, citrusy "maize" color, perfect for Spring and to compliment my never-ending wardrobe of neutrals. But, unfortunately, I can't stomach the price tag.

Luckily (or perhaps unluckily), Target has a new set of messenger bags out right now, and they look startlingly similar to the PS bags. This Mossimo version comes in a variety of colors, including olive and grey, and an unfortunate cognac color that emphasizes its faux-leather quality. But I do like this off-white color a lot. It won't make me feel better about the PS1, and it might actually make me feel worse, but I could probably drop $30-some bucks on this.

*Note: Don't quote me on the price, as these bags are sold on online and Target does not show the price when something is out of stock. But it is somewhere around $39

OBSESSING Over Proenza Schouler

Perhaps it's because I'm extremely biased, and I think Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough can do no wrong, but I am in LOVE with Proenza Schouler's Fall 2010 RTW collection. I think it is a perfect transition from their Spring 2010 collection. It still has those bright cobalt blues that I loved from Spring, only now intertwined with more muted teals and plums, ditzy florals, and cozy knits. And their awesome graffiti-printed jeans? They collaborated with J Brand, and to quote style.com- "Try keeping those on shelves."

The accessories were rather splendid as well. I'm loving these shoes with the quirky heels, and of course their bags are making me drool all over my keyboard.

Fall 2009 Accessory Report- Part Three

Studs, studs and more STUDS!

One of my favorite embellishments, but only if done correctly.  Chic not trashy, ya know?  Like all of these.

I'm still surprised that most of the labels I just brush over, like Coach for instance, have really impressed me this season.  I don't know if it's just gotten edgier, but whatever the change is, I like it a lot.  It may even be a big enough change that I could bring myself to buy a Coach bag *gasp* which I never though I'd do in a million years =)

Now, if only money wasn't still an issue... or the fact that I still need to buy this bag!

Fall 2009 Accessory Report- Part One

I love when I open my email and notice a lovely update from style.com in my inbox.  That, and the WWD morning reports are great to wake up to.  So I was happy yesterday when I received the Fall 2009 Accessory Report, only to click and be directed to a huge list of designers.  After sorting through over 500 photos of shoes, bags, and jewelry, I saved about a quarter of them to my desktop with the intention of posting my favorites.  Needless to say I have to break them up into separate posts but who cares, right?  More posts for you!

Part one:  Booties!  It took me a while to get into this style, mainly because when I heard "booties" I initially thought of the akward, square-toed ankle boots my mom used to wear in the fall and winter.  Now I can't get enough of them!

To be honest I was quite surprised with some of these.  Designers that I typically ADORE (ahem, Proenza Schouler) really didn't have anything that were that amazing to me, except this one pair of boots.  On the other hand, designers that I typically don't care for, like Donna Karen & Coach, had some of the best (umm HELLO purple booties, I am drooling all over my keyboard).  It was interesting.

Someone call the ambulance

There's gonna be an accident
-I'm coming up on infra-red...

Just when I told myself I didn't need another bag.  Well, I lied.  'Cause I definitely NEED this bag!  This Dark Matter by Knox messenger bag is glorious, and available at UO for a mere $168.00 (still out of my current price-range, but whatever.  I'll have a job soon enough).

The biggest obstacle has nothing to do with money, it's deciding which color I shall have!  The black is so sleek, but I like the mint green color too.

The best part is that it really reminds me of all those Proenza Schouler bags and satchels I've been coveting since the beginning of their existence.  *sigh*
